~Inspiring Thursdays~

My photography would be no where near where it is today if I didn't have people who's work, art and life hadn't inspired me along the way. So I thought, what better way to share those people with you than to blog about one each week... hopefully I can keep up with this.

The first artist I'd like to share with you, only because he's been on my mind lately, is a man named Kerry Skarbakka

You can view all his amazing work at his WEBSITE BY CLICKING HERE

Here's one of my favorite of his images:

A lot of his work is self portraiture involving a sense of falling and flying, all mixed up.

Here's a quote from him about his series: "The Struggle to Right Oneself"

"Heidegger described human existence as a process of perpetual falling, and it is the responsibility of each individual to "catch ourselves" from our own uncertainty. My work is in response to this delicate state. It questions what it means to resist the struggle, to simply let go, and the consequences of holding on. The images stand as reminders that we are all vulnerable to losing our footing and grasp, symbolizing the precarious balancing act between the struggle against our desire to survive and our fantasy to transcend our humanness."

Take a minute and check out his work!

Check back for more inspiration next week!

Micah + Susie • May 24th 2008

Joey and I were way excited for Joey's cousin's wedding this past weekend. Micah is a great guy, and was a groomsman in Joey and I's wedding three years ago. We were super stoked that he had finally found his soul mate in Susie. They really are perfect for each other, and when they are together you can tell that the rest of the world just melts away for them. Joey was a groomsman, so I had to do this wedding solo, which meant more running around than normal. And in the long run was probably a good thing, it gave me a chance to loose some weight before stuffing myself over memorial day weekend! Anyway! Instead of listening to me babble on and on about nothing in particular, let's look at some photos shall we?

I know I've said it before, but I really am in love with mirrors...

Here's Joey and two of his brothers (also groomsmen) up to no good before the wedding...

Dum dum de dum... here comes the bride...

I'd say they were just a tad excited to be getting married...

FAVORITE!! Love this moment I caught while hiding in a tree...

Susie was diagnosed with cancer while Micah and her were dating, and he stood by her the whole time, and she beat it. During the vows she was talking about how he was there for her, and when she uttered the line, "you loved me when I had no hair..." I think everybody started crying, Micah won't admit it, but I caught him crying too!

Yeah! We're Married!!!

Isn't she beautiful!

I love this last portrait we caught as the sun was setting...

First dance...

And then they were off to disneyland for their honeymoon!

Congrats you two! We love you!

FrankenAudrey!!!

While we were up in Prescott Audrey ran around quite a bit in my parents backyard and cut her leg open. We bandaged her up but had to take her to the vet today. When we got there the vet ended up stapling her skin together... turning puppy Audrey into..... FRANKENAUDREY!

She also got a very fashionable white collar to wear... which she hates.

We like to call this last one "FRANKENAUDREY Vision"

Kasie Graduated!

This past weekend I went up to Prescott and was so proud to witness my sister graduate college at the age of 17! She's amazing!

My daddy was able to get back from his tour with the Army in time to see Kasie graduate...

So they aren't really organized enough to actually hand out diplomas during the ceremony... Kasie was a bit disappointed...

Vanessa + Bryan: Engaged

Yeah!!!! So I finally got done editing Vanessa and Bryan's engagement session and there are some AWESOME pics in there. They were really the perfect couple to photograph and we had SO much fun hanging out with them. Vanessa is an elementary school teacher and Bryan is a firefighter, and they have been sweethearts since high school. Isn't that awesome! I'm super excited for there wedding in July!

We all decided to start the day out at Traildust town, they have so much fun random stuff there.

We found this awesome little little fortune telling booth there...

I worked a little photoshop magic... and TahDah!....

Isn't that fun!

We find the strangest stuff sometimes while we're out. I handed bryan this sign and we all cracked up laughing.

Aren't they cute!

FAVORITE! :)

We found this fire dept. sign, and since Bryan is a firefighter, we just had to take a photo with Bryan in front of it.

Then we really had some fun. We all packed up and headed over to the miniature golf course and had some fun on the go karts. It was AWESOME!

Then we all played a round of golf...

Took some fun photos along the way...

And found Vanessa and Bryan their dream home... if they were the size of hobits...

This was there best pirate faces...

Love this one too!

And of course we had to get a photo of the bling!
