~ Inspiring Thursdays ~

Ok Joey and I have been *really* busy of late, so I totally forgot to do last weeks inspiration, so for this week I figured I'd just make it a really good one. And I'm sure most all of you already know about him, but for those who don't, you need to! Wedding photography for the last several years, has been starting to evolve from what your mother traditionally had in her album to the new more contemporary style many of us today are using. And that would never have been possible with out daring people, who were willing to take a chance and think outside the box, and one of the most crazy creative people to ever do that with wedding photography is John Michael Cooper. He has blasted down so many traditional walls, it's astounding. The man is AWESOME, so if you haven't already seen his work... Ladies and Gentleman, I give you JOHN MICHAEL COOPER...

You can see more of his work on his Webiste and his Blog

~ Inspiring Thursdays ~

I can't believe that it's already Thursday again! Well, one of the most important aspects of photography is light, becuase with out it, you really can't even make a photograph. Light is an essencial tool that artists and photographers use to evoke emotions and one of the best, most talented people to ever do this was Caravaggio. An Italian painter, Caravaggio was able to capture the essence of light in a way that no artist has ever done since. Here's what I mean...

His use of light to not only make an image beautiful, but tell a story all to itself amazes me, putting him as one of my foremost founts of inspiration.

Andrea + Elias • June 7th 2008

It's all Greek to me!

Joey and I had so much fun being a part of Andrea and Elias's Greek wedding this past weekend. I had not, up until this point, photographed a Greek wedding and it was such a fun experience. By the end of the evening Joey and I were both wishing we were honorary Greeks too! The wedding was beautiful, which wasn't much of a surprise considering Andrea is a graphic designer and very artistic. During the evening it was mentioned how much Elias looks like John Travolta... and I have to say... I'm inclined to agree now that I'm thinking about it. The reception was held out at the beautiful Hacienda Del Sol, which was once the Hollywood hot spot for stars like Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy and Frank Sinatra... Andrea and Elias even got to stay in the room that Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy stayed in when they came to visit, how cool is that!

This is probably my new favorite shoe picture EVER! Not to mention how awesome the shoes are!

Wasn't Andrea radiant!

I love this picture of her bridesmaids' faces when she put her dress on...

Andrea and Elias were married at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church...

The church is very ornate...

Mr. and Mrs. Liabotis

The light was beautiful for photos...

FAVORITE!

Andrea's bridesmaids are photo crazy and were snapping almost as many photos as I was all day!

I loved her colors, so bright and fun!

Hacienda Del Sol is beautiful at night...

Elias's family sang a song in Greek at the reception, it was so fun!

There was also some really great Greek dancing...

We had such a great evening... :)

~ Inspiring Thursdays ~

Another one of my favorite fine art artists is a girl by the name of Francesca Woodman, one of my favorite of her images is this one:

It reminds me of the short story Yellow Wallpaper

She doesn't have a website dedicated to her work, so you'll have to do some searching to find it.

*WARNING: A lot of her work does contain nudity, so beware*

You can veiw a few of her images at this website By clicking here

She is best known for her self portraits in which she obscures her face or moves during the exposure to blur out part of her body. She sadly committed suicide at the young age of 22, and only afterwards has her work gained national attention.

Heather + Nick • May 31st 2008

I just finished editing a few of Heather and Nicks photos from their wedding on saturday and thought I'd post some up before my (new) normal thursday post. Joey and I had so much fun hanging out with Heather and Nick all day and their wedding party. We were definitely blessed to be a part of their special day. Here are a few of my favs so far:

We started off the day at the salon, getting heather all prettied up...

Then we headed back to heather's apartment where there were warm blueberry muffins waiting...

Loved the lighting in this shot of one of Heather's bridesmaid doing her make-up...

Ok, so it may look easy to take ring pictures, but do you have ANY idea how long I have to play with those stupid rings to get them to stand up all pretty like that! It really tests one's patience! But the end result was totally worth it!

Heather was dead set on beating Bowser from Mario World on her wedding day...

Going to the chapel, and we're, gonna get married...

Aren't they adorable together!

Can you believe this light!!!

FAVORITE! :)

Nick's family is originally part greek so they threw is a little surprise for him at the reception...

And if you had any doubt about how strange we are... here's a photo of us working hard...
